Leaf Data Systems Software Update Delayed
The second software release for the traceability system, 1.37.5, will not be be implemented by its scheduled date of November 6, 2018.
Before any release is approved, it must meet the requirements agreed upon in the project scope with our vendor, MJ Freeway. We continue to work with MJ Freeway on testing and we are seeing progress on addressing fixes. We’ve asked MJ Freeway to provide us with the date when we will receive the final release for our teams to test. Once we’ve received that date, we will revise the entire project timeline and communicate that to you.
As you’ll recall from previous messages, the LCB and MJ Freeway negotiated a six-month renewal rather than the scheduled one-year renewal. Our purpose for the shortened renewal time was to improve our vendor management practices. Part of our vendor management plan is applying liquidated damages for missed deadlines and incentives for releases ahead of schedule. In the case of 1.37.5, liquidated damages will be applied after the missed deadline. This is a necessary to ensure our vendor is incentivized to quickly resolve issues and prepare the release for implementation.
Lastly, you may be aware that MJ Freeway has merged with another company. This has infused the company with additional capital and allowed them to add additional resources. We’ve seen increased collaboration and steps to ensure the product meet business needs
